For as long as I can remember, depression has been my constant companion. It often colored the edges of my experiences, sometimes even obscuring them entirely. Over the years, I struggled with low energy, fears, anxiety, and self-imposed limitations. At times, these challenges seemed endless. However, today I stand at a different point in my life. My journey of healing depression: hypnosis and neurofeedback has been transformative. Finally, I’ve embraced my true self and found the right “recipe” to manage my mental health. The Seeds of Healing: First Steps on My Depression Journey
In 1986, at the age of 21, I decided to seek better alternatives. Specifically, I wanted to move beyond relying on caffeine, alcohol, and other substances. Initially, a vague teenage memory about meditation reducing sleep needs sparked an idea. Additionally, I felt a strong desire to become a better person. Surprisingly, I even thought I should become a nun. Consequently, these thoughts led me to a meditation group. Fortunately, it seemed perfect: vegetarian, celibate, substance-free, and even a running group. For the next 11 years, it was indeed a great fit.
Navigating Life’s Storms: Depression Challenges and Mind-Body Techniques
Although meditation brought valuable lessons and practices into my life, I eventually felt stuck again. Then, unexpectedly, a vision of my future husband came to me one day. Soon after, we met by chance at a friend’s spiritual bookstore. Subsequently, a whirlwind romance led to marriage and the birth of my wonderful son, Nate. Despite these joys, however, depression remained a stubborn companion. In fact, the dark times often seemed even darker than before.
As time went on, life threw more challenges my way. Firstly, I faced separation. Then came the challenges of single motherhood. On top of that, I found myself caring for aging parents. Thankfully, friends introduced me to various techniques. For instance, I tried the Emotional Freedom Technique, amino acid supplements, Reiki, and Quantum Touch energy healing. The Turning Point: Hypnosis and Neurofeedback
After my father’s passing in 2017, I found myself in a numbing fog of depression. Traditional talk therapy wasn’t helping, and I felt trapped. It was then that I turned to hypnosis, almost out of desperation. To my surprise, just five sessions brought rapid improvements in my mood and decision-making abilities.
This experience ignited a long-held desire to study hypnosis myself. Under expert guidance, I became a Certified Hypnotist in 2018. While life circumstances temporarily delayed my plans to open a business, I continued battling depression via hypnosis and neurofeedback techniques on myself, family, and friends.
The next big breakthrough came in June 2021 when I was introduced to NeurOptimal neurofeedback by Sarita Trawick of Healing Spaces 4 U. The positive effects on alleviating my depression with these advanced psychological tools were undeniable. When an opportunity arose to work with neurofeedback, I jumped at the chance. This decision allowed me to reduce my hours at the veterinary hospital and start my own business offering sessions.
From Patient to Practitioner: Guiding Others in Depression Healing
Today, I can honestly say I love my life. The transformation I’ve experienced has inspired me to help others find the same joy and freedom. There’s nothing quite like watching a client walk into my office weighed down by their struggles and leave feeling relaxed, at peace, and glowing with newfound inspiration.
My goal now is to teach these transformative tools to my clients, empowering them to use these techniques on themselves, their families, and friends. I provide mp3 recordings of our hypnosis sessions and detailed notes on the processes we use, allowing clients to continue their healing journey between visits.
I’m deeply grateful to all my clients for allowing me to be part of their healing process. Every day, I witness the power of letting go of limitations and embracing life fully. It’s my way of giving back and contributing to a better world, just as others helped me along my journey.
